Panipat, the city of my birth. My ancestors migrated to Panipat during partition of 1947 from Multan. A small proportion of lands owned in Multan by my family were allotted to us in Panipat like so many of other towns, Panipat is indistinguishable from the Panipat of yore(like 15 years back). The old city of Panipat is more or less the same. It can be seen in the pictures of places like bu ali shah Kalandar Dargah. Panipat is famous for its golden history. Panipat was one of the five cities (prasthas) founded by the Pandava brothers during the times of the Mahabharata; its historic name being 'Panduprastha'. Panipat was the scene of three pivotal battles in Indian history. Apart from being the host of some of the pivotal combats, that overturned the face of history for good, Panipat is also revered worldwide for its striking handloom production. The famous Urdu Shayar Maulana Hali was born in Panipat. Apart from doing a lot of photography for textile industry in Panipat, I haven’t done too much of photography of landmarks of Panipat. Though I intend to rectify this mistake and make the most of being a photographer with Panipat as my hometown.
